• The CNS is covered in a protective membrane

• Dura mater

• Arachnoid mater

  • Subarachnoid space – Cerebral Spinal Fluid

• Pia mater

The pia is on the surface of the CNS and forms the filum terminale which anchors the spinal cord onto the sacrum/coccyx
