GOALS: For students to develop their understanding of adjectives

OBJECTIVE:

LANGUAGE ARTS: Through reviewing, discussion and writing and students will demonstrate their continuing understanding of adjectives

SOCIAL STUDIES: Through summarizing, reading, discussion, and whole class activity students will demonstrate their knowledge of important historical figures of the Caribbean and developing understanding of racial discrimination in the Caribbean

GRADE LEVEL: 6

MATERIALS: Short story beginnings handout. Paper. Pencils

OVERVIEW:

5 Min. Teacher standing at the board, guiding discussion. Overview of relationship between an adjective and nouns and pronouns.

2 Min. What two questions do adjectives answer

  1. What kind
  2. How many

3 Min. Short story beginnings handout. Students write one paragraph ending the story that they have selected

* If time students read what they have written

ASSESSMENTS:

Summative. The students ability to correctly identify and use at least five adjectives in their story.
