Spring Quarter Field Trip Covenant, 2004

By enrolling in the field trip to France, I agree to adhere to the program covenant as well as this field trip covenant:

I understand that the learning objectives of this field trip to France are focused on the question, What does it mean to be French? I will work on my response to this question consistently through my study of history, literature, sociolinguistics, and French language; and I will produce a final synthesis in my ethnography.

I recognize that, during my home stays in Rennes and Lyon, respecting the conventions and rules of my hosts is to acknowledge I am only a guest in their homes and in their country. I will use this opportunity to deepen my understanding of French ways of viewing the world.

I understand that I must follow the guidelines of the Evergreen Social Contract (http://www.evergreen.edu/social.htm) and that I am a representative of my academic program, the college, and the United States. Therefore, I will obey the laws of France, the USA, and any other country I may visit. I will refrain from disruptive behavior and abuse of drugs and/or alcohol. If I do not refrain from these behaviors, I realize that I will have to leave the program, lose credit, and retain no right to remain with my host family. In addition, I will have to leave the country at my own expense.
