- What are the federal, state and local laws that apply to public and non-profit employees?
- What "red flags" should you watch for?
- What's the most productive way to work with an attorney?
The class is designed for students to:
1. Become aware of
laws that apply to your work situation. Know the "red flags"
to watch for--e.g., public disclosure, ethics, employment law.
2. Understand how laws are created, implemented and interpreted.
3. Acquire a basic knowledge of how to read laws, but not a "law
school" education.
4. Understand how the legal system works. Know alternatives to the legal
system.
5. Know when and how to seek legal advice (how to work with an attorney).
