Mathematical Modeling with Stella

Students completing the optional mathematical modeling section are expected to have prior experience with Calculus or have an excellent grasp of college level Precalculus. This section is offered to introduces these students to mathematical modeling techniques using the modeling software Stella. Students are expected to work together in the CAL every Wednesday from 9:00 to 12:00 to complete assigned worksheets or homework. Students should also plan to spend at least three more hours per week reading the text Dynamic Modeling of Environmental Systems by Deaton and Winebrake and completing homework assignments. Complete all reading before coming to the workshop on Wednesday. Your written evaluation for the mathematical modeling section will be based on satisfactory completion of homework and worksheets and attendance at the Wednesday CAL workshops. There will be no tests on mathematical modeling, but students are expected to complete all Precalculus tests with the rest of the class.
