Part One:

Keep a diet diary for 3 days.Be sure to include at least one weekend day, the days do not have to be sequential, but it helps when looking for trends.For each entry, approximate portion size, ingredients, etc.Include all beverages, snacks and meals.Do not include any supplements when tracking daily food/beverage intake, which will be considered separately.

Part Two:

üUsing Appendix N or any other food composition source, give values to all nutrients indicated.

üTotal the daily intake of each nutrient.Remember to change units if necessary to keep uniform.

üUsing the Dietary Reference Intake charts in the front and back covers of text, and the chart on the last page of the textbook, find your individual needs for each nutrient, and list it in the appropriate line on EACH grid.

üFind the difference between your intake and your DRI, and fill in the grid sheets with correct numbers.Remember to keep units uniform.
