This quarter I have been working on a story-telling project that I will
present during week 10. The form of the project is a series of Stories or
Myths and a collection of poems knit together in a web that creates a new
version of the Books of Genesis and Revelations. I have based my works
premise largely on two pieces of writing from last years work in
Recognition: Leslie Marmon Silkos, "Ceremony" and The Christian Bible.
The idea behind basing my work on the Bible is that it is the single most
influential story in European History. The idea from Silko is that we need
to create new Ceremony based on the Old ones while incorporating New
Realizations and Reality which I have taken that to mean new versions of
older Myths. As I result I have spent a great deal of time reading and
listening to Creation Myths from around the World, through many times and
have used that study to create a more recent "interpretation" of the
"Judeo-Christian Origin Myth".
In addition to the work of memorizing and writing I am reading the
following works:
"The Web of Life", F. Capra
"Life Lessons from a Ranch Horse", M. Rashid
" We Make the Road by Walking" , M. Horton and P. Freire
I am also working on a back drop for the performance, a large-scale
painting that carries the mythic symbols and images pertintent to my
version of the Myth and collecting a series of images for a complimentary
slide-show and laying down a sound-track to go with it all.
It is my hope that you will all attend the telling the date and location
of which I will set in week 6.

While all of this is going on I am also writing a contract for a job I
hope to start in Feb. The job is a furthering of many years of work which,
my time in this learning lab (Recognition/Patience) has helped to bring to
the edge of promise. It is to start a wilderness guide/counseling service
in CO that provides single and multi-day wilderness adventure AND performs
service work in the form of Youth Recovery/At Risk Youth Experiential
Learning, and Corporate Development. It is my hope to eventually have the
Youth present the experience to the corporations and for myself to simply
facilitate the meeting of energies. In view of this I am developing
relationships with two prominant Addiction Recovery Professionals in CO,
and a nationally-known Corporate facilitator who among other tasks, has
been presenting noin-violent tactics training to the Denver Police Dept.
I am also touching base with the Aspen Institue, the Aspen Center for
Environmental Studies and every school, public, private and charter in the
Aspen/Glenwood Springs area as well as the Glenwood Hospital Drug Rehab
wing. A lot on my plate and I am finding time for it all as well as
maintaining my own health. If all goes well with the contract I will move
to the Aspen area in Feb and will begin the work of personal networking
and setting up the infrastructure of the business. I will keep the
Patience Experience appraised of my work through the webx and program list
serve.
That's it- Michael G
