Actually, the project is in many ways an
investigation into the defintion and true nature of humanity.
Philosophy, especially of eastern religions and education. Spent four
months in Peru, learning spanish and cross-culture communications.
Dream studies also ecompassed much of the work, which required daily
journaling.

Educational Philosophy. Studying first world
immperialism and our impact on third world nations
---------------------------------------------------------------------
6A. Did your program(or project) include writing?
Minor

---------------------------------------------------------------------
7A. Did you use technology to present work, conduct research (including
library research), or solve problems?
Minor emphasis
7B. If yes, how did you do so?
Digital photography and photoshop to compile
prrtfolio of photography and art. A blog that has just been started but
will later become home base when traveling. This will also feature art
until I get a website. Computer presentation at the end of year.
Always conducting research online, through the theosophical society and
library.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
8A. Did your program(or project) include activities designed to promote
critical thinking?
Major Emphasis.
8B. If yes, how were such activities included in your program(or
project)?
Ordinary
thinking-contemplation-concentration-meditation. Constant re-evaluation
of the self, the ego and my own ability to be mindful, calm and
centered was the majority of the years work. To share techniques that
have helped me to gain insight and focus and which have installed a
sense of peace, I will share through the end of the year writings and
presentation.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
9A. Did your program(or project) make an effort to address racism,
sexism, classism, or other forms of oppression?
Yes. Emphasis
9B. If yes, what strategies or activities did you(or your faculty
team)use that worked well?
We
promoted student based learning, no teachers taught, we were allowed
virtually open credit oppurtunity unlike any other program in the
nation. I believe that traditional education, no matter how liberal or
critical, is oppressive and in taking part of a class like patience we
are living the future and setting examples as to how to create a
learning environment with no borders, where a professor doesnt claim to
"know more" than the students, where the students and teachers
recognize that there is false history within the literature and
knowlegde in Academia. When we acknowlegde people as equals and afford
them oppurtunities to decide what education means to them, we raise the
level of humanity as a whole and thus contribute to abolishing sexism,
racism and so on, which all root in the idea of borders and an "us" and
"them" attitude. We operated a totally different kind of educational
system.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
10A. Were there opportunities for you to do advanced work in this
program(or project)?
Yes.
10B. If yes, please elaborate…
The faculty made it clear that this could be used as
an internship, feild study, etc...anything that is possible to study
this course can accomodate. I studied abroad and am now setting
up a
portfolio of visual arts that I might not have been able to start on
until senoir year.
