March 13 ­­— Blue Heron Farm, Rockport

Berry Pruning Anne Schwartz grows 5 acres of blueberries, raspberries and mixed vegetables as well as 7 acres of 100 types of hardy bamboo which is sold wholesale and retail throughout Puget Sound.  The Farm Walk will focus on winter pruning of berries and general berry culture; also see the greenhouse full of spring starts and discuss their nursery business.  www.marblemount.com/blueheron/

 

April 3 — All Season Fruit Company, Centralia

Greenhouse Production In 14 large greenhouses, Tom Cloud grows strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, peaches, plums, figs, tomatoes, peppers, basil, beans, cucumbers and a few other crops for direct market sales.  Tom has developed a unique organic greenhouse production system that allows him to grow crops all year.  www.allseasonfruitcompany.com

 

May 1 — Full Circle Farm, Carnation

Post Harvest Production Andrew Stout cultivates over 75 varieties of fruits, vegetables and herbs ranging from bunched greens and baby vegetables to specialty herbs and flowers on 140 acres.  Discuss post harvest processing, equipment, and how to get your vegetables cleaner faster with less labor for your market customers. www.fullcirclefarm.com

 

June 5 — Thundering Hooves, Touchet

Livestock Thundering Hooves is a fourth generation, 400-acre family farm in the Walla Walla Valley where Joel Huesby and family raise and finish 100% grass fed livestock and pastured poultry on certified organic pastures of alfalfa and grass. Livestock receives no hormones & no antibiotics, resulting in naturally flavorful, healthy meats.  www.thunderinghooves.net

 

June 26 — Oxbow Organic Farm, Carnation

Diversified Market Farm See a diversified, organically-certified, direct market farm selling through Seattle farmers markets, restaurants and a CSA program.  This early Salmon Safe farm offers a look at salmon habitat and restoration work along the oxbow in the middle of the farm. Most of the 100 acres are devoted to hay, with 5 acres for organic vegetables, cane berries, strawberries, tree fruit and grapes.  www.oxbowfarm.org
