Arati Stayi, an Odissi dance opened the performance. "Resistance" was produced by the program, "Imagining Movement: Art in a Social Context," at The Evergreen State College in 1999. Scripted by students in the program, "Resistance" was a powerful collage of scenes in dance and animation from freedom struggles across the world. The faculty in the program were Ratna Roy (dance), Ruth Hayes (animation), Gail Tremblay (Visual Arts). Directed by Ratna Roy, "Resistance" included iconic moments from the Civil Rights Movement in the US and from the Second World War and its atrocities, connected by "power" movements and meditation dance.
