Hey guys. Just thought I'd make sure I know everything I need to know
for the end of the quarter coming up. I'm still planing on being in the
class all year, so I won't give my report until the end. I'm registered
for winter already. Just to update you, this quarter I:
- have been studying energy and working on healing techniques. I am
taking a weekly class at the Belmont school for Energy Awareness and
Healing. I will graduate in February and recieve a certificate for it.
We have things we're supposed to practice on ourselves every day as
homework that I strive to do. It can be a real struggle for me, as some
one who has always had a hard time getting myself to even do daily
meditation. It's been really powerful though, and I see the effect it's
having in my life. I completed a Healer's Training workshop with David
Elliot, the author of 'The Reluctant Healer'. It was very amazing.
- am still studying a lot about health, diet, and the body. I'm
planning on doing a whole system cleanse that takes a total of 3
months. I'm also seeing a chiroprator who will be doing a nutritional
analysis on me. I saw an oriental medicine woman and recieved my first
acupuncture treatment. I've changed my diet and am working on learning
to cook for health, and what foods are good for what. I've been saving
all the hand outs I find and recieve on nutrition and health and am
going to go through them and compile them into a binder to use in the
future when helping clients with their health and wellness.
- have been working as an adolescent counselor. Very challenging and it
is helping me fine tune my counseling skills. I've also saved all the
mental health related hand outs and info I've compiled over the years
that I plan to organize and make part of a therapy binder I'm planning
on creating before the year is up. I have left the group therapy I was
part of in Olympia for 2 1/2 years, and am looking into new kinds to be
part of and explore.
- have been working on community and music and dance as healing tools,
being part of an underground music community here in Portland. I'm
helping put together a series of intentioned music events this winter
in Eugene. The first one is this Sat 11/19! I've also been helping
people set up and tear down for their events and participating in
workshops offered. I did a Kundalini dance workshop taught by the
inventor of this particular method who is from Australia. It was
incredible and really helped me clear out some stuck energies in my
body and better understand how to use dance for healing instead of just
entertainment.
End of this quarter on through to next quarter I plan to continue with
all of the above as well as:
- start attending free classes at this place called The Herb Shoppe
that gives lectures on natural medicine and herb uses and such. I'm
going to start attending a Buddhist center to have more of a community
to help me practice self and guided meditation and listen to the
lectures.
- I plan to start doing yoga, tai chi, or something of that manner to
get more in touch with my body. I will also be completing 6 sessions
with a personal trainer who will help me develop a work out program for
myself that will best suit my needs.
- start working on my "senior project" which is a series of binders I
will make (some mentioned above) for use in my futre endeavors.
- interview different people who have started and maintained their own
business, and possibly attend some business and financial classes. I'm
going to invest some money in something non-risk oriented. Spring
quarter, I hope to draw up some sort of business/ future goals plan for
myself.
- I may be getting this 2nd job at a gift and sexual education shop for
women that offers classes and lectures on various topics and would
require me to gain a lot of knowledge about women's health and sexual
liberation. I'll know in the next 2 weeks whether I got the job or not.
I'm sure there's more, but that's it for now. Please keep me posted on
anything you may need from me. I know I'm never in class, but I'm still
part of it. I joined the mailing lists and the program pages so I can
check in on what people are up to more. I want to attend some classes
to. I'll see what my schedule is like for that. Hope all is well with
