Arts, Environment and the Child: Walking the Wheel of the Seasons

Heather Penny

I am a pagan mama of three girls. I spend a lot of time making food and cleaning up craft projects. In my limited spare time I love to write and read books on herbalism, spirituality and nutrition. I also practice a form of meditational dance called Dakini, inspired by Tibetan Buddist practices . In much of Tibets' spiritual artwork you can see dancing demons often worked into the frame around the diety being depicted. These demons are Dakini and they are protective spirits who can guide us on our path to full awakening, often through the illumination of what has been hidden or denied within ourselves. Or, so it has been for me as I have worked with my own protective Dakini.

My intention in taking this class is to increase my awareness of how children learn, so I can apply that awareness to my childrens' learning process. I also am interested in herbalism for children and improving our overall health with herbs.
