Creative Writing Workshops Workshop 1: Your read and discussed three very different short texts: The Beginning of Paul Auster's Leviathan, two short pieces from Ben Marcus' The Age of Wire and String, and a piece by Borges. We turned this discussion toward the critique process. For most people, there's a marked difference between the process of reading a published work and a student work-in-progress. Nonetheless, there's something consistent in the ability to describe the experience of reading any text, and that experience is crucial information for the writer in process. You wrote a short "rewrite" of a text that was read aloud and exchanged these in order to continue some of this critique discussion next week. Please bring those with you on Wednesday. |
