In Inside the White Cube: The Ideology of the Gallery Space, Brian O’Doherty attempts to describe the significance of the gallery space and its effects on the center of attraction, the art that is being displayed. He goes on to explain, “The ceiling becomes the source of light…the art is free…’to take on its own life,’” (McEvilley, 7) suggesting that the unbiased space allows for the art to portray its meaning without interruption. This space separates the art from the outside world and detaches it from time broadening its audience and impacting all generations. The space simply allows the art to illustrate what it is, existing “in a kind of eternity of display…” (McEvilley, 7).
