I believe Roland Barthes’s view on photography was an elongated battle between his personal benefits for viewing photographs and his self- discipline on how to properly examine photography. He goes to great lengths to explain his reasoning why you must escape your inner self to create a piece in its nature and capture an essence or a time and space that will never return into a chemically formatted piece of paper.

I can’t say that I agree with most of his views especially when he discusses that photographs are invincible and show no true sign.   I believe with the right vision and execution you can direct your photograph into a specific meaning that can go across to others just as a sign could, you just have to have your message be clear and direct as possible in order for your audience to understand. The concept I guess meets me half way but the rest of his conclusion to his theory is  ludicrous to me.
