I think that art that can truly move the sole of a person should be used to enhance an already pleasant environment, rather then be shown in a pristine white room. A piece of artwork that is placed in an environment where it can truly be appreciated by the modern Americans is going to get more appreciation and ultimately sell better. Any painting or sculpture will look good in a room that is completely white and bare with the exception of that painting. But a painting that just looked good in the plain white space of a gallery, could be amazing in a setting that would enhance the painting.
