I absolutely adored Hikey's fictional essay through Hank's voice. It is an essay I am sure I will revisit more than once in my life. I have loved Hank since I was a kid and sported a HANK button on my right pant leg for a year and a half before I lost in somewhere in the wash or on the street. I knew Hikey was a good writer and enjoyed most of his essay's but this one showed a different style of writing that I very much appreciate. Some quotes that stuck out to me whre "Being country was just one of those terrible accidents of birth."
"Your average southern belle of today is about as sentimental as a chainsaw." It's funny cose I could imagine Hank singing some of the versus he wrote. The part about the pharmacy lady and him cracked me up it reminded me about of Bukowski- even the part about the different soaps you use was hilarious but true. There was some quote he used in his previous essay about his friend who would 'break your heart and make you smile'- that was kind of like this whole essay.
