It seems like we are living in a culture where you can not be truely considered a successful artist if your works were not being display enough in exhibits or gallery? It is hard for some artists to ignore the trends of the public because they need those audiences to be able to generate reputations and expand the artist chances of keep doing art that they like.

Basically, I personally think that (and I don't like to say this) artist needs a space to show their works and with out a gallery or some space, the public will have less access to the work. Artists need audiences & public and even media not just for the feed backs but mainly to get money or fundings or grants in the future so that they could use it to maintain themselves as artists. Yeah, it is sad to think that now days without money we couldn't do much--more money --> more stuff you can do. I think this is why many galleries have problems of becoming more an economic power house in art world rather than a museum, or spiritual chamber etc.
