Some of the links that prove literature is alive and well on the web...

  • Beatrice Beatrice is a site that was created by Ron Hogan in 1995. He converted his website into a blog in late 2003. Hogan employs keen and witty bloggers and delivers daily literary news with an even tone and an open mind.
  • Bookslut Bookslut sounds like an adult personal ad but it is actually a friendly literary hub that aims to provide "insightful reviews, commentary on trends, updated news, and a lot of silliness." Bookslut's editor, Jessa Crispin, is a devoted blogger and also author of "How to Talk Like You've Read Something You Haven't." The site makes a worthy effort to accommodate all visitors.
  • Complete Review The Complete Review offers more than 1,200 original review of titles in several genres. This site does not just review a book; it assigns that book a grade - using the A through F scale this site lists reviews from several other reviewers as well. The anonymous site owners also write a blog that is passionate about its advocacy of literature in translation.
  • Cosmoetica David Orr considered this site worthy of attention. The site owner, Dan Schneider, by his own admission describes his poetic abilities to be "better than Walt Whitman." Schneider also calls T.S. Eliot "one of the most grossly overrated writers in the history of the world and the English language." Schneider has also found time to offer helpful criticisms regarding fellow poets and reviewers.
  • Everyone Who's Anyone This site will tell you more about the book world than anywhere.
  • Foetry Foetry is dedicated to "exposing the fraudulent 'contests'" abounding in the poetry world - beware of sarcasm!
  • Identity Theory Identity Theory includes reviews and a web log. This site also does interviews and Chip Kidd is one of the subjects. We all know who Chip Kidd is, right?
  • Moby Lives Although the site administrator is on hiatus this site is worth a look. His site has everything from the effect of the Patriot Act on libraries to rationale behind author photos.
  • Poetry Daily Poetry Daily posts a poem a day and catalogs poetry news from around the world daily.
  • The Underground Library Alliance The ULA is dedicated to getting everything published that the New York publishers dismiss.
  • Web Del Sol A rather confusing site but worth it. A portal to several literary magazines, including Southwest Review.
