WINTER TEXTS

Be sure and buy the appropriate translations of both The Aeneid and The Inferno.  As in fall quarter, we all want to be reading and discussing the same words during seminar on these two classics.

SPRING TEXTS

There are only two texts which we will expect you to bring along to Europe.  These are:

1. The Marriage of Cadmus and Harmony by Roberto Calasso

2. The Sixteen Pleasures by Robert Hellenga

To better appreciate your time in Greece (especially on Crete), we also strongly recommend that you buy and read the following book over the break, BEFORE you go to Greece: The King Must Die by Mary Renault.

Since it's a small paperback, you can, of course, also take this book along with you if you wish. 

Still another book that we highly recommend (but do not require) is  Corelli's Mandolin by Louis de Bernieres.
