Directions from Olympia to Skokomish

The Skokomish reservation is located 35 miles north of Olympia off of Hwy. 101. Drive I-5 to Olympia, WA and take exit #104 which will put you on to state highway 101. Travel North on hwy. 101 where you will pass the Little Creek Casino. Continue on Hwy. 101 past Shelton but DO NOT take any of the Shelton exits. You will pass the Sanderson Airport on your left and continue north on Hwy. 101 for approximately 10 miles. You will descend into the Skokomish Valley and cross the Skokomish River. About one mile past the river, you will see the Hwy. 106 turnoff (to the right ) for Union and Belfair. Take a right on Hwy. 106 and head East about 1 mile.You will see a green sign on the right that says Skokomish Tribal Center. Take an immediate left and you will see the Tribal Center about a half block down the road on the right.

Directions From Olympia to Quinault

 At Olympia take exit 104 (Aberdeen, Ocean Beaches) you are now on highway 101 Stay on the main highway, it turns into highway 8 West and then at Elma it changes to highway 12 West. Upon reaching Aberdeen, follow the signs which take you to highway 101 North to Hoquiam and Ocean Beaches. DO NOT TAKE WESTPORT EXIT You should be in the left lane as you are crossing the Hoquiam bridge. You will curve to the right and then at the second traffic light you will turn left onto highway 109 (Ocean Shores and Beaches) Approximately 18 miles later, turn Left onto highway 115 Right hand turn lane into out driveway.

Prairies


Scatter Creek Wildlife Area

Scatter Creek Wildlife Area contains two management areas and has a great walk through the oaks of Scatter Creek and out into the prairie. The southern unit does have seasonal restrictions and all of the Wildlife Area is open to hunting at certain times. You also need a wildlife parking sticker. Check with WA Dept. of Fish and Wildlife at (253) 589-7235 for more information. Directions: Exit I-5 at Littlerock. Drive west one block, then turn south on Case Road. Continue on Case Road, crossing Scatter Creek, to 180th Street. Turn right on 180th , which leads to the Wildlife Area parking lot.


Mima Mounds Natural Area Preserve

Mima Mounds Natural Area Preserve is 445 acres in size and contains the best remaining examples of the unique Mima Mounds. An interpretive trail, suitable for the disabled, meanders through the eerie mounds and great prairie. Longer walks are also available. The Preserve is open to the public everyday. More information can be obtained from the WA Dept. of Natural Resources (360) 902-1340. Directions: Exit I-5 at Littlerock. Drive west through Littlerock and continue on 128th Avenue SW until it ends at an intersection with Waddell Creek Road. Turn right on Waddell Creek Road. The Mima Mounds entrance will be on the left.
