Project Log: Decorative Areas

Week 2

Activities: Discussed with partners time for first formal meeting. We will meet at 2pm at the Longhouse and work on site discription. Also, e-mailed Marja about funds for a decorative rock for the area by the Longhouse sign to match the one in the path.

WEEK 3

10/11 2 hours

Activities:  sat with site.  meet with Alina.  reviewed site.  looked at plant books to get some ideas about what might work.  worked on plant identification.

WEEK 4

Activities:  had an idea of trying to find plants used in local native welcoming ceremonies.  spent a lot of time on the computer without finding what i was looking for.

Activities:  pulled grass up with an action hoe.  tried to save as many wild strawberries as i could.

WEEK 6

11/1 1.5 hours

Activities:  discussed with alina what to do with the corner area of the upper area.  agreed on making a stone and surrounding one side with bear grass.

Activities:  talked with alina (where is karen?) more about the upper area.  she has a great idea for a map introducing the longhouse garden.
