Mullein is a plant of many wonderful uses. While it is certainly a great aid to the respiratory system, it is also helpful for first aid purposes.

Properties: Expectorant, demulcent, anodyne, analgesic, antiinflammatory, anticancer, antioxidant, antiviral, bacteriastat, cardiodepressant, estrogenic, fungicide, antispasmodic, astrongent, emollient, nervine, vulnerary, slightly sedative and narcotic (seeds mostly)
Indications: Athsma. bronchitis, coughs, mucus congestion, consumption, mucous membrance inflammation, earaches and infections,headaches and migraines due to ear problems, bleeding of lungs and bowels, gum and mouth ulcers, toothaches, cramps, convulsions, sunburn, hemmoroids, chapped skin, tumors, ulcers, diarrhea, frostbite, bruises
Part Used: Flowers, Leaves, Roots, Seeds
Application: Varies according to indication. May be infused with oil, as a tincture, tea, dried leaves can be smoked, used externally and internally. The dired leaves a re highly flammable and are useful for building fires.
Cautions: If making a tea from the leaves, strain very well with cloth to remove fine hairs that may be irritating to throat.
