Project Log #1

DATE: January 23, 2007 TIME LOG: 3.5 hours

ACTIVITES:

Traci and i have contacted eachother via e-mail, and have not met up yet, but plan on getting together soon. We talked about the possibly intruducing pipsissewa to the Dry Woodland area. We are planning a field trip in a few weekends to a site in Shelton where there is currently pipsissewa growing. On my own, i spent about an hour in the garden journaling and trying to figure out which area exactly was the Dry Woodland, and what the other areas around it were. I've also spent a lot of time on the internet looking up pipsissewa and other plants from the list for my area to try to get acquainted with what i will be working with. a few of the sites i have been looking at:

http://www.ct-botanical-society.org/galleries/chimaphilaumbe.html

http://www.botanical.com/botanical/mgmh/p/pipsis41.html

http://www.bcadventure.com/adventure/wilderness/forest/lodgepole.htm

http://www.mushroomexpert.com/laetiporus_sulphureus.html

Haven't asked traci about it yet, but realized there is a log producing chicken of the woods...possibly introduce Oyster mushroom spawn? I've been reading a lot about outdoor cultivation of oyster and other mushrooms, and it seems very possible for the garden.
