This is both an oral and written assignment.  Each person will research a food, of your choice with instructor approval.  It must be a whole food like a fruit, veggie or grain. 

 

Written Reports should include the following:

·        name of food- any ‘nicknames’  & scientific/botanical names

·        family of food -  ie: peas are in the legume family

·        serving size

·        significant nutrients contained in a serving  - ie protein, fat, fiber, vitamins.....

·        cost per serving of organic and non-organic offerings ( go to a few grocery stores, coop &/or farmers market and find price range )

·        tips on selective storage & preparation.  recipes

·        where is it grown?  when is it grown?

·        special properties? - any medicinal properties?  current research indicating it as a nutriceutical?

 

 

Written reports must be typed in an 11 or 12 font, and are due at the time of your Oral Presentation.  NO EXCEPTIONS.

Oral reports will be a short 3 – 5 min. infomercial Try to sell us your food - tell us all the great things about it in a light hearted - creative way.  

Presented to the class on assigned date.  Dates of Oral Presentation to be determined by Instructor and assigned Tuesday April 17th.   Similar foods will be presented during the same class session.
