Kenneth Lambert-Personal Travel (Approved by Anna/Sopho)

My English name is Kenneth Lambert but in Spain I am known as Kensito Aguirre Carrillo de Albornoz and Granada Spain is the city where I feel the most connected to my identity.  The first time I stepped out of my hotel there and walked up to El Carte Ingles (Spain’s Macy’s), I had this feeling of belonging that I really cannot begin to describe.  The first time I sat in the square looking up at the walls of The Alhambra, I just had to take it all in, the beauty was overwhelming.  Granada is so beautiful that the entire city has been declared a national landmark by the Spanish government.  Watching the majority of people walk by with the same coloring and look as me was a first and sitting there on that bench taking in the sights and sounds of Granada, for the first time I felt like I belonged.  The feeling of being there, the overwhelming sense of awe, wonderment and energy that somehow emanated from the majestic Alhambra, provided me with my first real sense of my heritage and cultural identity…it was wonderful.
