WINTER QUARTER - 2008
Seminar in Renaissance, Baroque and Classical Literature and Symbology: "Paradox of Selfhood"
Thursdays, 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm
Requirements of this quarter's seminar are the following:
- Attend all classes, participate in small group work, and contribute to discussion and reporting in the larger group.
- Keep an Intellectual Journal, a record of your own intellectual journey, of coming to terms with each reading for seminar, and relating it to other program materials. In this journal, include, weekly, at least:
2 - 3 pages of notes (a great aide to your end of quarter exam writing)
1 - 2 pages of reflection which synthesizes an idea or ideas from the week's text with other materials, including lectures, all program reading, film, etc.
ยง On one occasion, prepare carefully, rehearse, and present a short 2 - 3 minute reading from the week's text, followed by a 7 - 8 minute analysis of that passage, or traditional French "analyse de texte". Submit your polished textual analysis to Marianne Bailey.
