It was the first Saturday in a long time that I didn’t have school, work, or any plans. I tried to think of a bunch of simple and relaxing things I could do that would still incorporate Seligman’s definition of the ‘full life’. This was the plan I came up with, however, I provided the flexibility to change plans if necessary.

http://www2.evergreen.edu/positivepsychology/a-beautiful-day-2#comment Sun, 02 Mar 2008 12:32:00 -0800 Chelsea H 204 at http://www2.evergreen.edu/positivepsychology ARCHIVE - EMP http://www2.evergreen.edu/positivepsychology/emp-3 EMP Experience
My thoughts before going to the EMP were excitement but nervousness for a new experience. I have had a stressful month so regardless I was looking forward to going to Seattle and getting away from it all.

http://www2.evergreen.edu/positivepsychology/emp-3#comment Sat, 01 Mar 2008 23:03:32 -0800 Chelsea H 194 at http://www2.evergreen.edu/positivepsychology ARCHIVE - Forgiveness http://www2.evergreen.edu/positivepsychology/forgiveness-3
Forgiveness

Pyramid Model of Forgiveness (Worthington):

1) Recall the Hurt:

http://www2.evergreen.edu/positivepsychology/forgiveness-3#comment Sat, 01 Mar 2008 22:52:37 -0800 Chelsea H 191 at http://www2.evergreen.edu/positivepsychology ARCHIVE - The Resilience Factor http://www2.evergreen.edu/positivepsychology/the-resilience-factor-6
The Resilience Factor by Karen Reivich and Andrew Shatte was eye-opening. I am apparently not as resilient as I once thought. I took the tests expecting to pass with flying colors but unfortunately I ranked well below average. I have overcome so much in my life that I thought that meant I was resilient but the definition of resilient is also different than I once thought. On page 26 the author says that, “resilience is a mind-set that enables you to seek out new experiences and to view your life as a work in progress.” After taking the tests I am realize that this is something that I need to strive for.

http://www2.evergreen.edu/positivepsychology/the-resilience-factor-6#comment Sun, 17 Feb 2008 22:48:39 -0800 Chelsea H 144 at http://www2.evergreen.edu/positivepsychology ARCHIVE - 3 Blessings and gratitude letter http://www2.evergreen.edu/positivepsychology/3-blessings-and-gratitude-letter-0 Three Blessings
I tried to come up with global, personal, and specific blessing for each day. Exercise makes me feel good while I am doing it and that positive feeling stays with me. I decided to incorporate an exercise routine for my mornings. I am so happy that I did it! What a wonderful start to my day. This has served as a way to focus my mind and my energy in the morning. I decided to jog on my treadmill for 20 minutes and listen to music while doing it. It was really hard to wake up and get myself to do it. I was motivated by knowing I was going to have to write this paper and now the jogging has become routine. I noticed that I am more relaxed during the day and I am generally happier with myself when I exercise. I plan to continue this routine.

http://www2.evergreen.edu/positivepsychology/activity-one-and-two#comment Sat, 26 Jan 2008 22:49:31 -0800 Chelsea H 64 at http://www2.evergreen.edu/positivepsychology ARCHIVE - Compton Book http://www2.evergreen.edu/positivepsychology/compton-book
“An Introduction to Positive Psychology”

William C. To me this quote is the essence of the books message. It is a message that is both encouraging and inspiring. No one is a victim of circumstance or of their past because we all have the ability to overcome and create the “good life” for ourselves. This book takes an in-depth look at positive emotions; techniques that promote positive emotions, what areas of our life positive emotions influence, and how positive emotions are incorporated into a person’s life satisfaction.

http://www2.evergreen.edu/positivepsychology/compton-book#comment Sat, 26 Jan 2008 22:48:28 -0800 Chelsea H 63 at http://www2.evergreen.edu/positivepsychology
