For this activity I was not able to go through the process again because I guess you could say I am up to date on my forgiving, but I still feel close to the process of forgiving my daughters father so I will write about that.

Recalling the hurt was easy for me, I was unable to deny the hurt because it was an everyday part of my life (my daughter), but I did suffer from stomach ulcers and extreme anxiety for over 2 years until I was able to finally accept the reality of the situation and stop blaming myself for the entire situation.

http://www2.evergreen.edu/positivepsychology/forgiveness-9#comment Wed, 05 Mar 2008 13:59:39 -0800 Lacey 224 at http://www2.evergreen.edu/positivepsychology ARCHIVE - "A Beautiful Day" http://www2.evergreen.edu/positivepsychology/a-beautiful-day
Lacey Graves

2-27-08

Activity 4 “A Beautiful Day”

1. Help boyfriend’s mother watch grandchildren on the farm

http://www2.evergreen.edu/positivepsychology/a-beautiful-day#comment Wed, 27 Feb 2008 19:13:26 -0800 Lacey 165 at http://www2.evergreen.edu/positivepsychology ARCHIVE - EMP http://www2.evergreen.edu/positivepsychology/emp
Lacey Graves

2-27-08

EMP reflection

What a wonderful day it was!!! I was a little apprehensive about having to fill out the paper, it turned out to be easier than I thought(though I still had some difficulty). The EMP itself was not as fun as enjoying the time spent with classmates. I was a little disappointed that the one thing I vividly remember from the last time I went there (8 years ago) was not still there, or at least I couldn’t find it. That would be a Jimi Hendrix shrine complete with a full sixed wax sculpture.

http://www2.evergreen.edu/positivepsychology/emp#comment Wed, 27 Feb 2008 18:37:53 -0800 Lacey 164 at http://www2.evergreen.edu/positivepsychology ARCHIVE - Lacey Graves "3 blassings" activity # 3 http://www2.evergreen.edu/positivepsychology/lacey-graves-3-blassings-activity-3
Lacey Graves Activity # 3

Three blessings

Day 1

            1. Had I read it six months ago I have a feeling that it would have been foreign and felt unreachable to me. Beginning in October I was taking 12 credits of class and living in my car in Olympia so that I could stay in school. I grew so much within the last 2 two months of fall quarter. As I was reading this book I could pin sown and put names on all of the changes that took place within myself, All of the factors of resilience seemed to shine through and guide my life in a calming and accepting way. For the first time I was truly able to see how negative circumstances can be used as an opportunity to learn and grow.

http://www2.evergreen.edu/positivepsychology/lacey-graves-resilience-factor#comment Fri, 15 Feb 2008 13:17:09 -0800 Lacey 106 at http://www2.evergreen.edu/positivepsychology ARCHIVE - lacey graves, Compton response http://www2.evergreen.edu/positivepsychology/lacey-graves-compton-response Response paper “an intro to positive psychology”
In general I am extremely satisfied with the basic concept of positive psychology. The idea of focusing on all of the good in people and in life is a concept that I have tried to practice in my life, but it has been the main guiding force in my personal life for the past year.

I was very interested in chapter 5 and the information on love’s relation to well being. I have experienced increase in my personal well being when I was in a long-term relationship but the statement on page 87 “a number of studies have found that being married is the only really significant bottom-up predictor of life satisfaction” surprised me. In the long run I would believe this to be true but I also know that at least for me I had to develop a firm satisfaction for my life as a single woman before I was able to be truly satisfied within a serious long-term relationship.

http://www2.evergreen.edu/positivepsychology/lacey-graves-compton-response#comment Sat, 26 Jan 2008 11:09:20 -0800 Lacey 36 at http://www2.evergreen.edu/positivepsychology ARCHIVE - lacey Graves activities 1&2 http://www2.evergreen.edu/positivepsychology/lacey-graves-activities-1-2 Activity 1: Elevator Ride
The 2 activities for lifting my mood both involved stepping away from responsibility.
