Field Trip
Positive Psychology
The first week of class, my curiosity sparked at the idea of a surprise field trip! A few weeks later we discovered that we were going to The Experience Music Project. Hooray! A class trip, what a great idea! On the drive up to Seattle, the sun was shining and I was excited to be doing something different. During the quarter it’s hard to get away. My mood was way up!
When I arrived at the EMP everyone else was really excited too and in a great mood. Wow, that’s rare for a class experience! So we all embraced the day, ready to experiment with the multi-sensory thrills the EMP had to offer. I love going to museums where you can touch things. Interacting makes learning so much more accessible.
As I walked into the Jimi Hendrix room I saw Chelsea writing on the walls, and I was so thrilled to be able to write on them too! As I walked through the EMP I ran into classmates and we shared instruments, and experiences. There was also a big group of schoolchildren at the EMP and everyone’s excitement was contagious. A few of us were in a band; it was a silly kind of fun. We called ourselves The Icebergs.
Lunch at Buca di Beppo was awesome. Sharing dishes and laughs, and dessert was much fun; a positive experience was had by all. It was nice to socialize with everyone, and to get to know them outside of normal class interactions.
I had a wonderful day at the EMP, it carried into my evening and into the next day at class. We were a little tired but eager to recount our experiences the day before in seminar. It was wonderful to share that with class, and to get to know people better.
