Beautiful Day

 Objectives/Plans…

¨      Sleep in past 8:00am

¨      Drink lots of coffee

¨      Not be in a hurry to start the day

¨      Spend all day with my girlfriend and dog

¨      Fit a movie in at some point

¨      Have dinner with friends

¨      Keep things positive

These were the plans for last Sunday. I saw that the weather would be fair and that my girlfriend and I didn’t have any major plans going on. I took this opportunity to construct a “Beautiful Day” of my own.

If I recall correctly I woke up around (or slightly before) 8:00am. I then made a full pot of coffee and sat around watching TV and reading the paper. It was wonderful. About mid-day, we decided to take our dog down to Capital Lake and go for a walk. The sky was blue and the sun felt warm. Even the people we ran into or said “hello” to seemed to be in a good mood. After about two hours of walking and resting by the water, we headed over to my girlfriends house to visit with her mom. Although it was a short visit, it was nice to stop by unexpectedly and see her. After getting home and freshening up, we had dinner at the Oyster House with friends who I haven’t seen in some time. We also managed to fit that movie in afterwards.

Overall, it was a very pleasant day. Having the mindset of a “Beautiful Day” just seemed to make everything that much better. The only thing that I would have changed was my emotional reaction to some poor dog owners at the park. I managed to let my emotions get the better of me before thinking about the situation. Other than that though, it was a really great day. I enjoyed the experience of consciously appreciating the day and making it beautiful.
