Thesis: Portfolios should be submitted later than the 1 p.m. deadline originally stated

Evidence:

I           the printmaking studio will be closed on Monday, Memorial Day
II           the last studio assignment given was a printmaking assignment (not a drawing or collage assignment) and requires the use of the printmaking facilities specifically.
III          the faculty won’t be able to evaluate the portfolios Wednesday afternoon anyway due to studio clean up and exhibition installation.

Conclusion: Portfolios should be submitted later than the 1 p.m. deadline originally stated

The original submission deadline has been changed from Weds. at 1 p.m. to Thursday at 7 a.m.

ARCHIVE - http://blogs.evergreen.edu/generativeself/2010/05/26/36/ http://blogs.evergreen.edu/generativeself/2010/05/26/36/#comments Wed, 26 May 2010 17:36:24 +0000 sweetl http://blogs.evergreen.edu/generativeself/?p=36 Week 10 updates (as of Tues., May 25 / week 9)
Tuesday,

10 a.m. (note the early time!) Critique in dedicated studio
of the following works:
(1) second iterative self portrait (4 sequential media),
(2) multiple-plate intaglio prints due at final class meeting
(3)  independent suite of four works

Please note, this will be a committed, thoughtful critique taking most of the day.  As a demonstration of your upper-division capacity for critical thinking about visual work and the concepts they imply, students will be expected to take the lead on these discussions.  Remember our pedagogy centers on your thinking and learning, on your informed opinions, and weaning folks from the desire for feedback from authority figures. [smiley emoticon]

Wednesday
9 a.m.  Continue critiques and/or begin installing the final program exhibit

1 p.m.:    Submit final portfolios in your studio space for review by your evaluating faculty, including:
Final self-evaluation (doesn’t need to be on ‘the form’).
Notebook if substantive
“If your house was burning…” digital compositing assignment
“50/50” self portrait
Original iterative self portrait in its entirety (6 sequential media)
Second iterative self portrait (4 sequential media)
Submit printmaking assignments not submitted at deadline.  These may include any of the following:

    • Traditional hard ground/aquatint etching
    • Photo-intaglio sample assignment (one exposure test impression + one print at selected exposure, label exposures to lumens clearly)
    • Photo-intaglio formal composite print (one impression only)
    • 5 Chine colles

PS – it’s helpful if you label your portfolios contents to assure that you get full credit for your work.  In some cases, it may be difficult for us to discern which work was submitted in response to which assignment.

Thursday
12 – 4 p.m. TESC Arts Walk
12:00 – 1:30 p.m. (note the new time) Mandatory Printmaking Studio Clean-up
2 p.m. Final program gathering in the dedicated studio!

IMPORTANT:  All of your work and belongings – including artwork and items you no longer want – must be removed by you from the Art Annex studio by Fri., June 11.    Thank you!
