the first time i met Jacinta was in '95 when i'd traveled around the country looking for a school to attend. i was unsuccessful. i shared my upset with a friend who worked in the COM building. Jacinta overheard and told me about a school north of here. she gave me a hug and told me not to worry, it was all an adventure. i moved here to attend that school but ended up at Evergreen by way of some plan other than my own. i saw Jacinta a year later and she said she was glad my adventure brought me here! my encounters with her always reminded me to love and trust. and that is what i have witnessed ten fold since she has passed. i have seen Jacinta's spirit in many interactions this last week. more kindness, more thoughtfulness, more genuine interest...  her passing seems to have lead many of us to embrace her role in our community. she is so very, very missed and still so very alive in us!

I did not really know Jacinta, we are a little isolated in the counseling center. I ran into her several times on campus, we were both buying chocolate in the cab and laughed about it. It was an honor to hear your stories about her and that she touched so many people in such a beautiful way. I wish I could have known her bright spirit, thank you for your wonderful stories and memories.

In the Evergreen of my dreams, Jacinta is our Hospitality Czarina, with a wonderful Jacinta-esque office and all the personnel and technical and monetary support she needs, in some central part of the campus.  In her role as HC, she hosts for the college, and everyone who comes here--parents and potential students, new faculty and staff, alums, community members--everyone--gets a healthy dose of the Jacinta Treatment as a first stop.  What a place we would be.
