From: Sharoni, Simona Sent: Friday, March 19, 2004 4:06 PM To: All Staff & Faculty DL Subject: The gift of community and lost items Beloved community members, In one of my last conversations with Jacinata, sometime last week, I confessed to her that this community is the first place I felt at home. I wish I would have told her that like so many she was one of the reasons I felt at home here. She smiled and made sure we both remembered to take good care of ourselves and get to the spa in Tacoma next week! Thanks to all of you for the beautifully crafted tributes to her spirit and work. No single person can fill the void she left. We all have to pick up where she has left and embrace the fact that it is WE who make this place unique and this is why Jacinta paid so much attention to our wellbeing. She had the gift of unconditional love, which she shared so generously with all of us, as well as with strangers. Perhaps it wasn't the goddess in her that touched us so much but the fact that she dared to be human. Let's all be human this weekend. Let's not bottle the pain and let's dare to lean on one another for support. And if you need special permission to do so, know that this is what Jacinata would have wanted us to do! Simona PS If anyone found the boombox from the memorial -- would you please return it to media loan or let me know. The cds' belong to KAOS. This comes as a great shock to our community, as we lost one of our most beloved and dedicated colleagues. Jacinta brought unflappable good humor and tremendous grace to her work. We will dearly miss her heartfelt commitment to hospitality, indeed she set high standards for the Com Building. We have little information to share with you at this point. As we learn more about any plans for a service or for memorials, we will share it with you. Please watch your e-mail for more information from our office.
