Financial aid is available to students who have been formally admitted to Evergreen. Financial Aid comes in many forms, including grants, loans, and scholarships. Grants and student loans are based on the information that students provide in the FAFSA form. Students may also apply for scholarships that are available through Evergreen as well as many other sources.

For detailed information on financial aid, please see the Financial Aid Office web pages.

Non-admitted students

Non-admitted students (special students) are not eligible to receive financial aid, but may apply for the Evening and Weekend Studies Student Tuition Waiver. The first step in qualifying for financial aid is to become admitted to the college. If you are considering applying for admission to the college, we suggest that you complete the financial aid forms as well the admissions application.

Admitted students

Regularly admitted students who attend part-time or full-time may be eligible for financial aid. You must be registered for a minimum of 6 credits to be eligible to receive financial aid. Those students who attend on a part-time basis (taking between 6 and 11 credits) may receive financial aid awards on a proportional basis. Students taking 12 to 20 credits may receive the aid available for full-time students.

Students will need to complete two financial aid forms: the FAFSA (http://www.fafsa.ed.gov) and the Institutional Data Sheet, which are both available in our Financial Aid Office at (360) 867-6205.

Our Financial Aid Office suggests that students complete and submit the FAFSA form as soon as possible after January 1—of the calendar year they wish to attend. For students attending in the fall, we suggest that they submit the FAFSA no later than February 15—of that year. Applications completed on time will be considered for the limited number of grants and scholarships that we offer. Late applicants may receive loans only.

State Employee Tuition Exemption

Evergreen extends educational benefits to permanent full-time classified employees of Washington State and Active National Guard personnel through the Washington State Tuition Exemption. (A complete description of this policy and accompanying forms are available on the Registration and Records forms page). The tuition waiver is good for up to six undergraduate college credits per quarter on a space-available basis. This means that in Evening and Weekend Studies, the tuition exemption is applicable to 2, 4 and 6-credit courses only. A student will not be able to take six credits of an eight-credit program, nor may a student use the tuition exemption for six credits and pay for the last two credits of an eight-credit program.

To use a tuition exemption, you will first have your Human Resource Services office complete a Tuition Exemption Request Form (PDF). This form is also available through our Registration and Records office. You will also need to pick up the appropriate registration form (Special Students should use the Special Student Registration Form).

You will then go to the first day of class, and if there is room in the course the faculty will sign your registration form. You should pay your $30 processing fee at the Cashiers Office and return to Registration and Records to process the registration.

Note: The tuition exemption does not apply to summer quarter courses or graduate school offerings.
