Addition to reading assignment, p 51 in HA

As discussed in class, please bring your Human Anatomy text to class on 10/3, 10/17, 10/26. 10/31. 11/9, 11/14
Please also do the readings listed for Thursday's Experiental Anatomy class prior to class.

In class, we discussed the Nutrition/Lifestyle project and decided that in addition to the observations outlined in the Lifestyle Awareness handout, you need to track and calculate your daily nutritional intake (Total calories, calories (or grams) of carbohydrates (can break out sugars), proteins, and fats. Here's the basic timeline for the project:

Weeks 2 & 3: Track detailed nutritional intake and all observations to establish your baseline for comparision. By the end of week 3, you also need to locate a nutritional/diet plan that you will prepare a weekly menu, and calculate the daily nutritional intake for this menu. This will be the menu that you will follow during weeks 4 & 5

Weeks 4 & 5: Follow the menu you prepared and continue observations. This will be the "experiment" that you will compare to the previous two weeks.

Week 6: Analyze and summarize your observations Write a paper describing your experiences

Week 7: Paper due.

Corrections to the syllabus
The syllabus is incorrect on several reading assignments. In addition to Ch 11 in CIA, read also Ch 8. For the pectoral girdle, read p 174-177, not 186-193.
Add acromion to the list of boney structures that you need to know for the shoulder and arm

Additional readings in Human Anatomy assigned for weeks 5-8. See updated syllabus for exact assignments.

Essays for writing workshop should be thesis-driven with a thesis that answers or responds to an open-ended question and is supported by references from the text (just like we've been doing).
