Examples of Introductions and Summaries

#1 INTRODUCTION:

The ground shook and the air clapped as he marched forth toward the border of Eden . Satan paused at the edge of the garden, before stepping into the outer world. From the imprint of his left foot garlic arose, and from the spot his right foot last touched onions sprang. This legend is only one in garlic's rich history of myth and folklore. Used throughout the ages for religious, edible, and medicinal purposes, garlic is easy to grow, simple to prepare, and benefits those who consume it.

CONCLUSION:

As one can surely see, the health benefits of garlic clearly out way any offensive aroma. Centuries have proven its important roles in cultures across the globe and throughout history.

#2 INTRODUCTION:

The alarm clock buzzes violently startling me from my sound sleep. Quickly, I silence the clock hoping not to wake my husband who came to bed only an hour earlier. The clock reads four o'clock in the morning, the time I must rise and ready myself for another arduous day in the trenches. My husband and I manage fast food restaurants, and we are slaves to a salary.

CONCLUSION:

I quit. I return to an hourly wage where I am protected by the Overtime Security Rule. I work no more that forty hours per week, and overtime is voluntary. Best of all, I no longer dedicate my time to a fax, a phone, or a pager. My time is my own to spend as I see fit, guilt free. I spend time with my friends, my family, and my pets, and I go to classes in continued pursuit of my bachelor's degree. I am victorious, for I have taken back my time.

#3 INTRODUCTION:

Recalling when some girl spread a vicious rumor, a boy took another's lunch money, or the group excluded a particular student, most adults remember the playground bullies from their days growing up in the public school system. Lacking the necessary conflict resolution skills and confidence, bullies, their victims, and incident witnesses pay a price for repeated negative outcomes to their conflicts. As an educator, I can increase the academic performance and decrease the disciplinary problems of my students by incorporating conflict resolution lessons into my curriculum.

CONCLUSION:

Is the responsibility of an educator to teach our nation's youth the skills necessary to positively function as productive citizens? Ask any dedicated teacher, and the answer will be an affirmative. The future of our society can be exploited by the media, but educators can counteract these negative influences by modeling and teaching positive conflict resolution methods and encouraging peer mediation.
