We recognize that many student attending Evening and Weekend Studies classes may not receive scholarships or any other form of financial aid. For this reason, we are pleased to offer an opportunity for Evening and Weekend Studies students to compete for a one-time partial tuition waiver. The purpose of the waiver is to assist undergraduate students to attend The Evergreen State College and to ease the transition back to college.

Applicant Criteria for Fall Quarter 2006

  • Applicants may receive only one Evening and Weekend Studies Tuition Waiver while at Evergreen
  • Only students who are not receiving other financial aid may apply
  • Students must register for at least one undergraduate Evening and Weekend Studies class to be eligible for a given quarter
  • Applicants must be registered for class or on a waitlist by
    September 8 , 2006
  • The award will be the equivalent of 4 quarter credit hours of undergraduate, resident tuition, regardless of total credits taken
  • Priority will be given to students who are new to Evergreen and to those students registered in either an 8 or 12-credit interdisciplinary program, or an Entry Points course.

Application Process

Applicants must write a one-page essay explaining their interest in enrolling in an Evening and Weekend Studies class at Evergreen. The essay should address the student's goals and interest in attending Evergreen and how this tuition waiver will assist them. The essays will be reviewed by the Evening and Weekend Studies Coordinating Committee for both the content of the essay and the quality of the writing.

In order to be accepted for funding consideration, the essay must include:

  • the student's legal name
  • student ID number or social security number
  • mailing address
  • daytime phone number or email address.

Failure to meet the requirements of the Applicant Criteria and the Application Process will cause the student essay to not be considered for funding. All applicants will be notified as to whether or not they receive an award.

Essays may be dropped off, mailed, faxed or e-mailed (see contact information below), and must be received by the Office of Evening and Weekend Studies Outreach by 5:00 p.m. on September 8, 2006 to be considered. Recipients will be notified beginning September 13, 2006.
