Fiction Laboratory: Advanced Studies

This is an opportunity for advanced students of writing and literature to participate in a small, focused group of like-minded students while also contributing actively to the learning of peers who are beginning their study of writing and literature.  Advanced Studies students will participate in all of the activities and readings of the introductory-level Fiction Laboratory , but will also complete longer and more in-depth assignments and larger-scale critical and creative projects. Advanced Studies students will act as peer mentors for the lower division students in the program and will have opportunities for ongoing critique and discussion with each other and with faculty.

Previous experience in college-level writing workshop (may be within a program of larger scope, but must have been a major component of program work); willingness to take an active leadership role in peer-critique and study groups; previous study of literary ideas and formal issues preparatory for program content; experience writing about literature. Email faculty to describe how you meet the prerequisites; attach a sample of an essay you've written involving literary ideas.
