Fields of Green

Summer 2014 quarter

Taught by

This program looks at the business of golf from the development of a green field site to the management of an ongoing golf club operation. We will also look at the history of golf and the role it plays in real estate development (e.g. golf club communities), land use, and leisure activities. This is a business-based curriculum focused on the particulars of golf course management. We will explore operations, marketing and business development as it pertains to golf on public, private or resort courses.

Golf course management and design students are also likely to have overlapping interests with sports management, business, physical education, land use, economic development, sports psychology, botany, hospitality, accounting, marketing, exercise science, athletic training, and sports and leisure studies.

There will be several field trips to Pacific Northwest golf courses.
