Taught by

Prerequisites

Entry in fall quarter requires the equivalent of one year of college-level study of Japanese language.  Entry in winter or spring quarters requires further proficiency.  Contact the instructor for an assessment of proficiency.

This year-long sequence covers the second year of Japanese language studies.  Students must be familiar with basic verb forms and elementary kanji letters.  Students will build on previous skills and learn new grammar and vocabulary so they can function in a variety of situations.  Classroom activities include presentations, watching film and TV clips, and discussion. Students will continue their kanji studies at their own levels in small groups.  Japanese culture and life will be discussed throughout the course.  The class is conducted primarily in Japanese.
