Sports in American Culture

Sports have a significant influence on our Identity -- why is that? This course will examine how competitive sports bring communities together to create a regional as well as national identity. Issues such as gender and race, politics and economics will be discussed. Fall season high school, college and professional sports will help introduce the student to the statistical process, including data collection, ways of organizing data, an introduction to data analysis, and an opportunity to learn how practitioners present their findings. (Note: Please bring a calculator.)
