Lesson Plan Template
General Thoughts:
- The class will divide into 3 groups to present the material in chapters
2,3,4 of the math text.
- The class will divide into 5math interest groups:
- Algebra,Number Sense and Representation
- Geometry, Measurement
- Probability
- Operations with Whole Numbers
- Fractions and Decimals
- Each group will become our experts in the area and produce a series of lesson
plans for teaching lessons centered in their area. Of course, each lesson
can integrate several areas.
- The lessons will be posted on a web page in handouts
- Each student will teach at least two lessons to a group of students. My
plan is to divide the group into two subgroups and have people teaching to
the subgroups.
- At the end of the quarter each student will turn in a portfolio of her/his
accumulated work. Include reading notes, class notes, assignments, reflections
and anything else you think will help to assess your progress in this area.
Specifcs:
- Each group is responsible for creating a unit lesson plan with 8 lessons
in it. (Of course your lesson plans will contain the usual things, such as
goals, methods and such.)
- Sample Lesson Plan Template
- Each week two groups will present a sample lesson from their unit. The lesson
should be interactive, collaborative, and use manipulatives. The schedule
is below.
- Each group should have have a lesson plan to hand out and a rubric so that
students can help assess your work.
