Curriculum: The water cycle

Rain- When there is too much water in the air it comes tumbling
down in the form of rain or snow.

Storage- The Earth soaks up the water, storing it in the ground and
lakes. We also use stored water to drink.

Vapor- When the sun comes out it heat up the water turning it into
  steam.

Clouds- When it gets cold outside the steam turns back into clouds.

This cycle repeats itself over and over again.

I followed this circle time activity with a game called- will it soak up, float or sink. I used 8 cups filled with water and gave each child a chance to place cotton balls, plastic, wool and tin foil in the cups to see if it would soak up. I used a block, pencil, rock and leaf to see if it would float or sink.

We also played a game called- Jump in the puddle. I played music and when the music stopped they had to stop and sit in the puddle.

The art work- I took spray bottles and filled them with water and then added paint. I gave everyone a chance to spray the different colors to create their picture.

This was a wonderful art project. However, I would suggest doing it during the summer when you can do it outside.
