Cerebral Herb Garden
Cerebral Herb Garden
Plans for building my own "semi-portable" herb garden:
GARDEN SITE DESCRIPTION
I. Location: My garden site will be located on the walkway in front of my apartment at 1024 prospect ave. Olympia, WA.
II. Site Details:
1. Size: I have a walkway that is 4 ft. by 8 ft. If I leave ample space to walk I have a 2 ft. by 6 ft. area for use. I am going to start with one herb garden that is 2 ft. by 3 ft. and then later build a second if needed.
2. Shape: Rectangle
3. Topography: Tiered garden box with level steps. Each step will be 6 in. taller then the step before it. Making the box a total height of 18 in.
4. Slope: Level soil arranged in a tiered garden box with full southern exposure and part shade on the East end.
5. Soil: Purchased potting soil.
6.Principal Plant Species: My tiered garden will contain all cerebral herbs. The kinds of seeds and specimens I can locate will determine what plan I go with for building my garden. If the specimens are large, Wild Dagga, Passion Flower, Vervain, then I will use Plan 2. If the specimens are smaller, California Poppy, Skullcap, Pennyroyal, then I will use Plan 1.
7.The "story" of my site: The concrete walkway in front of my apartment is the only outdoor area with proper exposure that I have available for use. I once had a couch there so a planter box shouldn't be a broblem with my neighbors (it sure will look better).
8. My feelings on the site: I wish I had a yard to develope, or just more room, but having some flowering plants around should help with the atmosphere of my apartment complex.
9. Materials: I have a couple assorted types of 3 in. cedar planks that I am going to use and other then that I should only need some screws and soil. For plan two I'll need some good sized buckets.
10. Tools: I should only need my tape measure, speed square, pencil, cordless drill motor, and good handsaw.
