Today the kindergarteners were excited when I showed up because I brought spiders. As soon as I walked in the kids came running over as if they had never seen one before. We got in centers and made Itsy Bitsy Spiders. The kids used there thumb print to created a spider and they drew the legs and used their imagination to decide what the spider would be climbing up. Some drew them on there leg and some drew them on their face. It was really fun.

The kids have been so good, when ever they clean up when they are asked and in a timely manner they receive a superstar. They have received 10 superstars so today they get a popcorn party. We decided to do the party at the end of the day so that they weren’t so wound up, but they were any way, just waiting for the party. It was a lot of fun the kids had a ball and we watched a movie.

When I came into class today the kids wanted to know what I had brought for them today. I had brought in leaves that I collected from around the playground. I placed them on the table and put in plastic spiders. The kids then used magnifying glasses to look at the spiders that were placed though out the leaves. They absolutely loved it.

I decided to take a brake from the spider aspect of things and use the leaves, since they seemed to have so much fun with them last week. I once again brought it leaves and placed them on the table. The kids were looking to the spiders, but this time I wanted them to trace the leaves and do rubbings of the leaves. They turned out beautifully.

Garden

This week I worked in the garden, I found it to be very peaceful. There wasn't much to do so I re-landscaped some of the planter beds to prepare them for spring. I gathered compost and worm soil to ensure a rich soil. I also watered the remaining plants and did some weeding around the lettuce and the peppers.
