Evaluation

[edit] Problem
Without proper self-evaluations and feedback from supervisors, it is possible to lose focus of the milestones and goals of a project. Without evaluating the work being done on a project, one can inadvertently get sidetracked from initial goals.
There is also the issue of a final evaluation of your project; how will you evaluate your final product in relation to your original goal?
[edit] Context
How will you gauge your continual progress and final product?
[edit] Discussion
Determining what exactly will be evaluated can be helpful in guiding the project. Will a project/individual be evaluated on the amount of work they do, the quality of their work, the receptiveness of an audience, etc? It's true that you are your own worst critic (well usually anyways) and in the case of a final evaluation you can give your own inside opinion on how the project went and you can also seek outside perspectives. In the case of an outside perspective which could be an art show or simply asking others' opinions you may be pleasantly surprised at what their view is. It can give you ideas on how to improve on the present project, figure out where to go from there or give you ideas for future projects. In any case it holds the potential to snuff that feeling of lost hope and bring about new bright ideas that you hadn't thought of.
[edit] Solution
Developing regular evaluations, whether monthly, weekly, daily, etc. can help individuals or groups stay on task and aware of alterations to the initial plan that may need to be made. In the end, have an inside and an outside perspective evaluation of the final product.
