[edit] Problem

Procrastination regarding a particularly distasteful task, while understandable, can only hold back your progress.

Becoming ill anytime while working on a project can halt your project completely or set you back drastically, resulting in a situation resembling that of procrastination.

[edit] Context

For my book, I will need to dredge up some unpleasant memories, including the incident I wrote about in the section I presented to the class (the one about the corpse). While I obviously finished that particular part of the book, there is another that I was hoping to have finished by the end of this quarter, but I kept putting it off... This part of the story will have to wait until I can take a few days off work to be hungover after I write it.

[edit] Solution

Procrastination is something you can easily avoid by being disciplined. Create a well thought-out schedule and actually follow it. Also, come up with a back-up plan in case something takes longer than originally planned. Create a plan that will, if followed strictly, will get the project done before it needs to be, giving you cushion time.

Illness, however, is not so easily controlled. If you get sick while working on a project you can tough through it if possible and not fall behind schedule, or change the schedule around and get easier, less demanding tasks finished while you're feeling under the weather. Or you can do the best to take care of yourself and make a speedy recovery and then get back to work. Either way, it is best to follow the advice above for procrastinators as well, because you never know when something will happen that will set you back.
