Using InDesign, create an 8-12 page booklet that includes the following information.

1.  Description of where we went and detailed directions on how to get there.  In the van, take notes while we are driving.  The driver can call out mileage, exit numbers and highway numbers as we are making turns.  This part could include a map.

2.  Your own photographs and/or scanned watercolor paintings of plants and the landscape we saw during the trip.  Each image needs a caption and artist ID.  You need at least 2 of your own images and may share images with other students.   Include at least 5 images.

3.  Briefly explain what geological and human forces created the prairies of SW Washington.  Cite your source.

4.  Describe each prairie location we visited.  Describe the general habitat zones (forest, eco-tone, and prairie.  The eco-tone is the transition zone between the forest and the prairie.   List any plants you can easily identify.  You could also include maps of the two places.

5.  What are the major management issues affecting these prairies?

6.  How and why has the Nature Conservancy played a role in protecting these habitats?  How do they go about changing the public’s mind about prairies?

To build community and share resources, please place photos you are willing to share in the Mima Mounds folder on MASU.  Create a subfolder inside with your name on it so the person using your photo can give you credit.
