Klingon

Hello! If you have ever watched the original Star Trek films the Klingon race has probably stuck with you as an interesting example of a specialized culture of warriors. In response to the popularity and interest in Klingon culture Klingon has also become a created language (by Linguist Dr. Okrand). The language developed along with the series of Star Trek movies and is now considered one of the most interesting and functional created languages. We plan to study natural language further by looking at how this language was developed to be so functional yet different from any existing language. One interesting linguistic fact that I can give right now is that the language is heavily verb-based as Klingons are an (imaginary) race of action. We plan to apply our new knowledge of Klingon (perhaps represented in an informal ontology) to our new knowledge of NLTK. We would like to create a dictionary that would allow an English speaker to reference basic senses/syntax of the Klingon language.
